Notes from the Inside

Insights is where I share what doesn’t always make it into strategy decks or boardroom conversations—naming what’s real about leadership, identity, equity, and the human side of systems—alongside essays, reflections, and practical tools to spark critical thinking, deepen leadership practice, and support meaningful change.

Why I Write and What I Believe

Welcome. If you’ve landed here, you’re probably wondering a few things — like who the hell I am, what exactly I do, and whether I’m going to start this off with a long-winded metaphor about bridges, fires, or peeling back the layers of something.

Don’t worry. I’ll keep it direct.

I’m Jess Kovach.

I’m a strategist, consultant, leadership coach, and unapologetic truth-teller who helps people and organizations move through uncertainty, stuckness, and systemic noise.

I spent two decades leading teams, building systems, and navigating some of the most complex human dynamics in one of the most recognized companies in the world — and I’ve learned a few things about what works, what doesn’t, and what absolutely has to change.

I write because our work is deeply personal. Because burnout, disconnection, and inequity aren’t just business problems — they’re human ones. Because too many people are stuck in systems that were never built for them. Because I know what it feels like to question everything you’ve built — your leadership style, your career, your values — and not know what comes next. And because sometimes you need someone to call out the dysfunction without calling you the problem.

I write for leaders who are trying to do better — even if they’re tired, even if they’ve screwed up, even if they don’t know where to start. I write for people who care deeply and think critically, who know that inclusion isn’t a workshop and strategy isn’t just a slide deck.

I write for the quietly brilliant, the overthinkers, the system-challengers, the “can’t quite play the game” folks who are done contorting themselves to fit in.

What I’m building here isn’t just a consulting practice. It’s a space. A place for real conversations, practical tools, unpolished insights, and the kind of clarity that comes from naming things plainly — and laughing when you can.

You’ll find essays on justice, leadership, systems, and identity. You’ll find free resources I’ve used with clients and teams. You’ll find stories I’ve wrestled with for years, finally named out loud. And if I’ve done my job right, you’ll feel a little more equipped — and a little less alone.

This is for the builders. The re-thinkers. The “something’s gotta give” crew.

Glad you’re here.
